Wall Street protests and global reaction- An opinion

 We al know how the Arab Spring and Wall Street processions began and spread all over the world, conflict between 1% and 99%. How could we understand it in the sociological point of views, let’s see:
In total I would like to point out 16 observations and comments-
  1. The protest began at the heart of Capitalist society; we could call it at the center of the hub of Capital financial institutions. 'Wall Street’, New York. Slogan was ‘occupy Wall Street’.
  2. Three main issues were: Corporate corruptions, discriminations, and unemployment adding the Obama’s controversial financial bail out package to rescue corporates at the cost of poor people. Cutting off social welfare.
  3. No big political or social leadership were behind the organizing or backing up the movement. This was a self-spontaneous social movement. Social networking is the main tool and media in communicating the messages. This makes all the protesters a leader, initiator and over all ownership was belonging to all the individuals, as the Poet Tagore says, ‘We all are the kings in this kingdom’.
  4. This is a unique movement, very different from all other historical movements in the history. Historically the movements are normally took place in the poorest countries where people revolted after the deprivation limit crossed the limit, and people had no other ways but to protest and fight, i.e., knows as class struggle or conflicts between classes- rich vs. poor, haves vs., have-nots. Not to mention, the movements were led by ideology or either Marxist or Maoist. This time the movement is different- the consent or agreement in mentality and believing is acting behind the molecule of this movement. Literally speaking, this movement is for the people, by the people and of the people indeed.
  5. If there is no Internet, no such movement could be organized.
  6. The weaknesses of the movement could be mentioned as – the negative characteristic. In fact this is a protest against existing capitalistic system of economy. Many people from many point of views have got together in this movement, none of them have long term programs to achieved in a planned way. All want to fight against the corporates but the means are not known to them. Since at this moment it is still based on emotions, spontaneous, unplanned and quick reactive- the ultimate end of this movement is doubtful and somewhat vulnerable. A Strong political force and leadership could make it much more progressive and effective in a way to social change. So, it is at this moment it is at the verge of a cross road- could bring about anarchy, good fruits or go astray!
  7. The protest was mainly begun against the Wall Street on the 17th September 2011 where only 200 protesters joined. At that moment the government was inerted and didn’t bother. But the protests continued on and on. In the mean time bad economy prompted more protesters to join and did not stop the government’s rule to call off by 14th October 2011, the protest or face the consequences. As per law the protesters have the right to stay and protest, so the government backed off. And this 200 became the heroes in the history.
  8. The slogans were also significant like, ‘occupy Wall Street’, Occupy Tokyo, Occupy Madrid and so on are sounds like revolutionary slogans challenging the existing capitalistic system. These kinds of slogans were never pronounced before.
  9. People from all walks of life joined this movement- Black, white, aborigines, veterans, gays, peace workers etc. Middle and lower middle class along with poor have supported this movement with their heart and soul. Moreover, some government officials who are relatively humanitarian in nature have also expressed their supports to the movement. In Sydney’s movement Business union has joined the movement. Taiwanese corporate semi conductor manufacturing union’s president also supported this program. Moral supports from media and national heroes also have expressed their supports to this program.
  10. The first ever call for this protest came out from the site called ’15 October Net’. But before that the world has long been found to be ready for this call. We should not forget in this movement the instrument and the instrument players are the same people.
  11. The one most important positive slogan we see in this protest is- ‘empowerment of people, want real democracy’.
  12. We all know that when it cross the border the most restraint government also could turn into more fascist form. Same happened when we see the ‘Occupy Boston procession’ began marching through ‘Rose Kennedy Greenway at 1:30pm, and hundreds of policemen started attacking the marchers, which enhanced the pace of the movement.
  13. After this even the protesters planned to organize another march against the Millionaires, which is termed as ‘Millionaire March’. Mainly Trade Union or Workers’ class families are the premier contributor and participators in these processions.
  14. The US government is now providing with financial assistances to those corporates who have already get benefited from the last economic downfall. Huge government subsidies have been offered to those corporates, which contributed to the budget deficit to US$14 trillion. Although Obama has declared to reduce the deficit by US$ 4 trillion every coming years. Don’t ask how? What Obama is doing is cutting off budget from Health, insurance, education and social welfare, which are badly affecting the lower or vulnerable classes of the society. That’s why these classes are fomenting their anguishes in a way of political movement and protests.
  15. This new movement is till now lack in financial supports from government, donor agencies or corporations, although bribing the movement cannot be overruled. If suppression cannot be wiped out the rising ups, greed might!
  16. Overall situation is- may be a new era is just born, the era of ‘post modern revolution’.  Whatever name it is given, whatever term be used-it must be for the people and of the people. The definition of democracy would be more wide and deep- meaning democracy will be implicated in the domain of economic, social, political, and cultural and so on. Democracy in all aspects and respects would be the change, so far we can expect!

Generation of disease

Generation of disease (Part-I)

Diseases are like dis-ease-
Make everyone unease-
All on a sudden, then,
Some people are fleeing
Fleeing from deaths-
As people are dying-
No time to talk, but flying-
No one knows why
Heart attack or stroke-
Popularly called it a price
Is being paid for sins and vice
The causes were unseen
Not recognized
Now we got it, see it –
Diabetic.

Gnawing with pain,
Fever, time after time-
Taking painkiller-
Sometimes feeling fine-
Others not in a mood or shine.
Again sometimes after,
Falling sick, lack luster-
And after a while dying-
Just walking as jack and Mick.
Doctors say it is for cancer-
For which medicines have less or
No answer.

Since the childhood –
Villages after villages-
Seen that vacated,
Hundreds and thousands died of diseases-
Once malarial fever spread like epidemic-
All left -
All vacant.
Those who left behind are
Old and handicaps-
Fear of death and demise-
Bring about havoc and catastrophic
Impact on generations.

Generation of disease (Part-II)

Then comes the Tuberculosis;
People shorten its name –TB,
UN took steps to eradicate-long time ago,
Once it was vanished too, again we see got it
Though the number is a few.
With TB-
Man used to say you’d be back
Never be, never be.
All time coughing, and
Coughing like hell,
Difficult to breathe,
Difficult to sleep,
Be in hell with peers peep!
When it comes-
Again villages gone empty.
Some survive, some leave country.

After a respite-
All careful steps are taken to be healthy and safe-
Inspite of-
Outbreak of pox.
It’s a full of pimples and pains-
All around the body-
Even beneath the under pants.
Sleep not-
Meet not-
Eat not-
Wait and pray,
As nothing to do,
Nowhere to go,
No other way.
Lucky that get body back-
With scars on your body and faces,
Up to head.
Many years it was stopped happening –
Now it seems coming again-
Bring with it fear again.

Then came the Typhoid-
Brother, sisters,
Fathers and mothers-
All going-
No mercy-
All in misery.
People falling.
Believers of traditional panacea, or,
Religious gurus,
Some took alternative medicines,
Some say all - worthless, all for sins.

Generation of disease (Part-III)

Villages began to be empty-
Vacating like a barren land
For fear and for future-
All looking wide open sky-
Fields of destruction
Miles after miles
Acres after acres
Harvests and paddy and wheat
Leaving unattended.
Time to seed
Left unseeded and bulls are standing still
Unploughed.
Thinking it’s over-
It has just began- a plague-
People have been affected by
Contaminated water-
Cholera they say-
Life will be finished
Surviving no way!
Kith and kin are died in front of the eyes-
Yesterday walking
Today leaving.
Died after being feeble and declining-
Unbelievable,
No medicine working
Village after village screaming,
Running in a hurry away.

Cancer is understood-
But what is going on
Strange- it says ‘aids’.
That bizarre disease-
No one heard of before-
Scientists and researchers
Trying to conquering-
Day and night spending.
Some panacea claimed to be found
Some yet uncounted
Nothing are free you had to count the dollar or pound.
Yet, many generations have gone-
Generations of diseases running on and on.

Oh the Ocean!

The sound of the pounding ocean-
Chasing like warhorse,
The waves are divided into three
And immediately sexed up and
Embraced and jumped over like the lying fox
Jump over the jackals.
The foaming waves like mouth-water gel
Go back to the horizon like never were there!
The wave pounds again when another one crosses
Across and creates
Another waves.
Waves and tides are dancing, and leaping like happy puppy, or
Children in the rain,
Caring only happiness and
Talking useless, but talking non stopping.
The blue horizon turns to black-
The fear of the darkness collapses-
May be it would be raining far away in the corner-
Who knows who is caught in the blitz and lights?
We pray to reach the shore,
When we reach we forget the fear
Like before.
Some water black, some are blue, some like foams
Some like shaving cream; it’s amazing,
Unbelievable if not seen.
How many colors are there how many more!
Only the Almighty knows -
Be in the sea or ashore.

We are the world

We are the civilized people,
Civilized past, culture and beliefs;
We are the nations with individualistic features, and cultures,
Fought many wars in between and amongst.
We die for truth, do nothing that bring with un-fruit.
We gifted the world history of Bastille,
Industrialization, industrial revolution- our contribution,
Renaissance, Arts and culture, and fight for rights;  All.
We uphold democracy and individual liberty;
We respect human race, but racist not;
We’ve the tradition and faith with non to compare;
We believe in God, no matter if God does;
We believe in superiority and ourselves only;
We’re the best and the last to survive, over and above.
We don’t integrate with others
But compress others;
We’re the blue blood, others are red;
Red is bad, Soviets break.
Every time God find us someone to fight against
If not we create one to -
Once got the Jews to have an excuse
Then got the Russians and Palestinians.
When non-is there now we got the Islam.
We’re the civilized world non-to compare;
Nip in the bud if any one dances,
We the freedom lovers, saviors of rights.
When truth breaks our gravity
We make them blot.
We the best, say the truths
We are the invincible, we are the shrewds!

Windy thought

Not feeling well
Why?
I can’t tell,
For heaven or hell
I tried to drink
Tried good jokes
Even tried triond
To see the moon
All on a sudden my kid jump over me
In my bed breaking my dream.
Frowning a bit!
Least bother-
Who is there?
May be some one is crying down the flat,
Why?
Not know, ke jane? (Bengali for who knows)
Not feeling well.
Some cries can be seen
Some cannot,
Some have reasons
Some don’t.
Some kande (Cries) for happiness,
Some for mystery, but I still don’t understand
Why she cried when we get married!
I asked, she smiled reasoning the unreasonable.
I felt inquisitive, but never now as noble.
All the good days and memories
That I left in Brussels and India
All that friends and kins
The sky is Meghe Dhaka (Sky covered with cloud)
There and here when I feel Eka (alone in Bengali)
I feel like a great Boka (Fool).

My backyard friends

I forget that they are there-
I don’t remember time sometimes-
When I was late in the lunch,
They keep waiting and waiting -
I don’t notice-
They do,
I had to carry more bags in a year,
If they were not there.
They are our friends-
Fond of us-
Love what we detestez,
And hate to caste;
Without them we would cost more
Of our health,
Money and time;
They are my and our friends
Without whom many of our jobs and
Environments would become unbearable.
Crows have love and hate
They don’t do hoarding
Or stocking for tomorrow-
Any foods available
They began to cry, and calling
All flocks together
Eating and crawling.
Crows love too, they have got family-
Make nests together when the season comes-
Live together till the course is over.
Crows are social birds,
Never live alone,
Eat alone, fly alone.
When they die
All comes to see and cry,
They are different though small fry.
In the morning they wake me up,
While keep on crying-
Till the sun rise;
Again we love and enchanted when
They fly back in flocks to the forests;
That can be seen from my four storied veranda
Me, my child and dear praises,
How pleasant and enchanting the glowing
Sun-set light reflects.
They are my friends and we call them many names;
I love them for their jobs and efforts
I love them and look at their friendly black eyes-
They don’t care, but weirdly aware
Lest we bother;
They are Crows, black silky crows.

I become addicted

In the bed -
In my sleep-
In my dream-
While I gossip,
Even shopping
Walking,
Roaming,
Gazing at the stars above in the moonless night;
Only you come in my sight-
Am I addicted to you?
I woke up-
Get up-
Get down-
See up front and
Upside down-
Chewing betel nuts-
Laughing nervy-
Having fun with my kid and wife-
My head’s burning with the price hike-
No pain, no gain- mom says;
Keep on trying, feeling like blank check,
Am I addicted to you?
In my office, when I work,
On the holiday when all are free-
Free from all the hassles,
Relax and enjoy the feeling senselessly-
Nature, pride and pounding hopeless scrambles.
I again ask myself
Am I addicted?
Indeed-
I am
Not to a drug,
Not to you my darling- but
Experts column in the dark!
